OPPORTUNITY (COURSE STRUCTURE)

CLD EDUCATION PROGRAMME

􀂙 Opportunity to solve a problem
􀂙 Why a Leo can use opportunities
􀂙 Problem solving
􀂙 Examples for solutions to problem
􀂙 How opportunities help a Leo

OPPORTUNITY
􀂙 What opportunity means
Opportunity is the chance given to a Leo whether an Alpha Leo or Omega Leo for self development.

It is said that opportunity does not knock at our doors twice.
Leos have such wonderful opportunities to achieve certain goals in their lives. These goals will help Leos understand better their limiting abilities as well as their unlimited abilities potential.

Leos will be able to have real and concrete opportunities to develop abilities in:
􀂃 leadership
􀂃 team building
􀂃 community service
􀂃 nation building
􀂃 organising skills
􀂃 public speaking

􀂙 Opportunity to solve a problem
An opportunity for a Leo has to be understood and tapped. An opportunity which is guided and encouraged leads to countless success.

Many stories are told where a man/woman makes good in life because an opportunity led to the concretisation of a simple goal which in turn led to many sub-goals which finally brought on the change in the person. Leos are shown that the world has many opportunities.

How can I solve this problem?
Is every problem an opportunity for a Leo?

􀂙 Make use of opportunities
The Leo Advisor/Faculty Advisor must address the major opportunities which an active Leo can make use of.
Opportunities abound because Leos are:
􀂃 well informed
􀂃 organised
􀂃 patient
􀂃 hard-working
􀂃 prepared
􀂃 methodical
􀂃 trained

􀂙 Problem solving
Leos should try to solve the problems within their means and resources from the school’s Faculty Advisor and or Leo Advisor from the Sponsoring Club.
The Leo Advisor/Faculty Advisor will identify these areas as opportunities for successful activities/projects for problem solving.

Problem-> Opportunity -> Activity/Project

Leos will do well in teamwork in designing and implementation a selected solution to a problem
􀂃 Environmental pollution: awareness and removal
􀂃 Smoking in school: health talk and self-discipline
􀂃 Road safety: awareness and education
􀂃 Attendance in Club meetings: good communication networking and enjoyable meeting

􀂙 Examples for solutions to problem
Opportunities are the practical aspects in the Leo club programme.
A Leo would do well to design a solution to a problem.
With the guidance of the Leo Advisor/Faculty Advisor, the following activities are good opportunities for Leos. Leos are encouraged to make good use of every opportunity to work out the following on paper:
􀂃 A Leo Information for an induction programme
􀂃 A Leo Orientation programme (Information)
􀂃 A Leo Induction ceremony (Obligation)
􀂃 A Leo Leadership Camp (Practical)

􀂙 How opportunities help a Leo
Leos must understand that the results of making use of opportunities help the Leos to build good qualities in:
􀂃 Character
􀂃 Consistency
􀂃 Truthfulness
􀂃 Judgment
􀂃 Good relations
􀂃 Punctuality diligence
􀂃 Sincerity
􀂃 Compassion
􀂃 Self-worth
􀂃 Discipline

Remarks:
Make use of opportunities to reach for the moon. President John Kennedy gave Americans 10 years to reach the moon. The astronauts reach the moon in less time than that.
